Mindfulness

Mindfulness is paying attention in a particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, with compassion. Being able to tune in to what is going on in your mind and body and the outside world from moment to moment without harsh judgement and self-criticism. The physician/clinician has been facilitating mindfulness based cognitive therapy groups at The Centre for Mindfulness Studies in Toronto  and at the Toronto Western Hospital. These groups help patients with anxiety, fear, stress and depression. They also help patients learn how to approach difficulties, and develop more effective coping responses. At Synergy there are a number pf patients who could benefit from additional psychotherapeutic support and  mindfulness training. This can improve their overall health and recovery. If you or your Synergy practitioner think you may benefit from this help, a referral can be made. The physician/clinician will do an assessment with you and decide together what further treatments could help.
